Family Guy Better Than The Simpsons?
Seth MacFarlane created something amazing. It’s an animated program with more pop culture references than The Simpsons and with a slightly more twisted sense of humor. Maybe it’s not fair to compare the two, but while I find The Simpsons funny, I find Family Guy laugh-out-loud funny every single time. Even on repeat viewings.

The Simpsons is superior to Family Guy, and this comes from a fan of both sitcoms. Although both shows, fundamentally speaking, are similar, there is a clear and lucid dichotomy when it comes to humor. Is Family Guy perhaps "funnier"? In many ways, it is, but one has to consider what the producers of Family Guy are compromising in order to achieve the almost superfluous and redundant level of humor that has become their staple. Family Guy has no plot. While both shows rely on inexplicable story-lines to establish a desultory ambiance which, I must admit, is rather funny, producers of The Simpsons have proven time and time again that they know where to draw the line. The Family Guy exorbitantly crosses the line when it comes to that brand of humor: songs often last too long, and random cut-scenes often diverge from the storyline at the expense of the show's continuity. Furthermore, for anybody that believes The Simpsons' jokes are childish or naive, you are heavily mistaken. That would be antithetical to the whole Simpsons approach. Although it is masqueraded by intricate layers of humor, each character in The Simpsons exploits a certain stereotype, from Apu the South Asian convenience store clerk to Homer himself, the satirical manifestation of the middle-class American. In fact, Homer's very vocation - an employee in a Nuclear plant - is an elaborate artistic depiction of the American "nuclear family." During the course of their show, producers of The Simpsons have taken the time to embed a myriad of pop-culture references and explore several social and cultural issues through character/dialogue implementation; much of this is missed by fans, but, upon analysis, once can truly appreciate the circuitous masterpiece that is The Simpsons. From the outside looking in, macroscopically speaking, The Simpsons and Family Guy are similar. However, when we peer through the microscopic lens of reality, we see that The Simpsons, indeed, has many more layers and stratums to their show. Thus, it should come as no surprise that, on December 31st of 1999, Time Magazine hailed The Simpsons as the greatest television series of the century. Let that be some food for thought.

Family guy is more innapropriate, but simpsons is harder to understand, and the jokes are more clever. Family guy can be funny, but sometimes its just plain stupid. Its for 12- 18 year olds that feel mature because they are watching a show with sex jokes and bad words on it. The simpsons 4 ever!!

Family Guy is way better than the Simpsons. Family Guy is a show for kids 10 to adult. The simpsons are for Babies who laugh at anything.

Family Guy is what the Simpsons could have been if their humor level went up a couplo notches....
And ya'll cant really say that you like the simpsons more than family guy cuz the simpsons is a classic and family guy are imposters... i'd rather say family guy is a perfected version of the simpsons!

Family guy hasn't been funny for about a year, the simpsons havent been funny for about 5 years (at least). Sure every now and then they both have a moment but it is rare (especially with the simpsons). I can see what Sjay is saying about family guy being just plain stupid, they have had a few running gags for a while that fall completly flat: like the one with the entertainers from the 1920's that keep playing the piano (up until they were shot) that was just pointless, and those "comedic" moments when they stretch things out for a really long time that was funny the first time they did it but not anymore.
As for the simpsons, Sjay makes another excellent point with stupid but not too stupid. Seems to me back when i enjoyed the simpsons homer managed to be clever through his own stupidity. His actions had at least some sort of point.
Example: Beer baron bowling scam, gaining weight to get off work.
Their jokes used to be based on witty remarks, now its celebrity bashing and other things no one cares about. "weasling out of things is important to learn, its what seperates us from the animals!.... except the weasel!"
Both shows are terrible now and woudlnt be around if not for the leniance created by their past success.

Family Guy is better than the simpsons? Yeah, just cos simpsons r sissy now. They don't laugh of celebrity, culture o politic. They just smash homer in the head and after 10 years that's not funny anymore. Unless u r a stupid child or retard. The thing about Family Guy is that they can make fun even of everyone who u respect. Simpsons now can't do that anymore. Simpsons we're great but after the 2000 they suck. And in Family Guy, the voice actors do better job than simpsons (remeber the episode of brian going to tom tucker's house ... the "benji part"?)

I disagree, because, well heres the problem with family guy it can sometimes be just plain stupid.
The otherday I was watching family guy and I didn't laugh as much as on the simpsons because some of what peter does is stupid. Homer simpson is stupid but not too stupid. It sucks the fun out of family guy, which I would hate to see itself getting ruined. From my point of view I think Simpsons in most ways is the best cartoon out of all, because for one it ain't rude like southpark, you can also watch with your parents, its not stupid like Family guy and American dad is just boring. It has all the greatest comedy scenes ever. On repeatings I'm like boring, but watching a simpsons repeat I just can't get enough. Well, I also take your side, you can't compare the two, its very hard to say whose better, because equally they are excellent in their own ways.
