Halloween Specials
Posted about cartoons lately? Submit your post using the button at the top of the left column. So where is it? Where is the great pumpkin? I remember on t.v. there used to be halloween specials when I was a kid. Now it just seems that every lame ass show on t.v. has a costume party around this time of year but I haven’t see Charlie Brown in years or the Bugs Bunny Halloween Special. Am I looking in the wrong places? I even tivo’d Halloween this year … a bunch of DIY stuff came up and scary movies. That’s it.

The Guru: Steve Jobs
It sounds like an urban myth but it could be a day in the life of Steve Jobs, who is chief executive of two technology companies that are admired both inside and outside their respective industries: Apple (which makes the iPod and a range of computers) and Pixar (which made the films Toy Story and The Incredibles). Apple made him a multi- millionaire, Pixar made him a billionaire, and the two mean that at the age of 50 he has cemented a unique position as a force in computing, consumer electronics (through the iPod), the music business (the iPod again) and Hollywood.

Chick Flicks
As the years go by, it seems that I am becoming a more emotional person. While this may not necessarily be a negative thing in itself, it can be somewhat inconvenient at the theater. Watching “Finding Nemo” and crying into my popcorn isn’t exactly something I like to do in public. Especially since I am not the type that can shed a few tears gracefully. No, not me. Almost instantly, my eyes get red and puffy and my nose swells to twice its normal size, beaming brighter than Rudolph’s. Worse than that, I don’t recover from a cry very quickly. Can you imagine taking me to a nice dinner after seeing “The Notebook”? (Incidentally, I deliberately avoided seeing it because everyone told me what a tear-jerker it is.)

Bugs Bunny vs. America
The new Looney Tunes Golden Collection includes a number of cartoons that weren't released on VHS tape before, including one of my favorite Bugs Bunny cartoons, Bob McKimson's "Rebel Rabbit" (1949).

Sleeping Through Cartoons
Well last week was one of the most insane weeks (and depressing) that I have had in years. The week itself started out insane, but got alot better as the week went on, even having dinner with a good friend which helped make my week 100% better. I also wanted to give congrats to my best friend getting engaged, I have been hearing the details right now. Friday I got to play DnD as I normally do and it was a great break to lead into the weekend with. I slept until 10 on saturday, missing all the sat. morning cartoons (boo) but my body must have needed it, I haven’t coughed this entire weekend. Between napping, doing homework, and sleeping, my saturday went to waste fairly quickly, but I was quasi-productive (wish i could have done more, but i needed a break from a hecktic lifestyle).

Spooks!
» Don’t miss the Homestar Runner Pumpakin Stencils. Nothing beats Bubs on a pumpkin. Nothing. No, don’t argue. (While you’re there, hit the Holiday button in the toons section and watch all the Halloween/Decemberween cartoons you can find. Again, if necessary.) For some other, um, unconventional pumpkin ideas, check out Extreme Pumpkins. Don’t try some of these at home…

I've Fallen And I Can't Get Up
But is Blackberry reall as vital as Life Call?So many users I know rely on this service heavily - almost like the “I’ve fallen and can’t get up ” customers. Sad to say but I don’t remember the name of the product - just the catchy marketing in those funny commercials (sorry to people over the age of 70 reading my blog). With the help of the internet, I now remember that the products name was “Lifecall” . Ya gotta love the internet.

Comic Reading Experience
I think the “accessibility” question is more of a problem in principle than in practice; between Google, DCUGuide, Spoilt!, and Newsarama’s various recaps, not to mention the local know-it-alls at your local comic shop or message board of choice, there are enough resources to help you figure out what’s going on in any given comic. It’s just a matter of whether you consider web surfing to be an appropriate part of the comic-reading experience, and whether the comic makes you interested enough to do so.

Pardon Me, Guv'ner
Ah, it brings me back to the heady days of Tennessee Governor Ray Blanton (D-Yes) and all the jokes that used to fly round, even round the elementary school I attended at the time. Political cartoons of Blanton with the caption, Pardon Me Guv'ner! And people singing Pardon me, Ray, is that the Chattanooga Choo-choo!

Yirmumah!
Hi gang, it’s a little late but it’s Webcomic Wednesday and I’ve got today’s update for you. I’ve added a great daily to the page for DJ Coffman’s “Yirmumah“. This one is for January 8, 2005, and it’s a huge one featuring all kinds of characters, from Beetle Bailey to Barry Bonds. You’ll have to scroll around on the page to find it though, as there’s a TON of Yirmumah originals already on the page. It’s worth seeking out though, so go find it! And after you check out the art, don’t forget to visit DJ’s site! Tell him I said hi

Priorities
Not gonna be a very long post. Uncanny X-men 15 got lost due to “unfortunate mishaps in temper and shipment* but ya know its all good. I learned that comics and “stuff” arent really as important to me as i had let them get, my priorities were all screwed. I guess nothing of that makes sense, no worries, It does to ME and thats the imporant thing.

Renewed Ties Between Steve Jobs And Disney
First, we must look at the state of one of Disney's cash cows, the family movie industry. Michael Eisner's reign as CEO of Disney drained to company of any creative talent. They couldn't produce a hit if their life depended on it. So along came Steve Jobs and Pixar and with a distribution deal came some great movies like Toy Story, Finding Nemo, and the Incredibles. Of course their contract is just about up, and Eisner and Jobs had a falling out of sorts with Pixar wanting to find a new distributor.

Binary Devign Example Distribution Unit
Yah yah…I kind of disappeared for a while there….but for good reason. I had started a write up on animations and I soon realized how worthless screen shots are for animation examples. It’s like drawing a flip book cartoon with only one page. Then I remembered WBA’s (Web Based Applications) and realized I could post working examples! Amazed at my own ingenuity I told a coworker about my great idea. He promptly pointed out that it would be easier and smarter to make a single app to display all of my examples instead of a bunch of little apps for each example. I didn’t care for his tone so I told him it was a stupid idea and stormed away. Later that night I realized it would be easier and smarter to make a single app to display all of my examples instead of a bunch of little apps for each example. I immediately gave myself a pat on the back…and it felt good.

Teary-eyed
If you posted a review of a cartoon, submit your post to Blog Carnival.Well, some might tell you that NewMexiKen can well up watching The Incredibles, but that’s because they don’t recognize the difference between emotions and an allergic reaction to popcorn. With that caveat, I’ll list three scenes that get to me.

At Least It's Not Iraq
I've been in Gitmo for over a year now and am starting to pressure the powers that be to get me back to the States to a position at SOUTHCOM. I've blogged about the headache of being here in terms of isolation and not being as good as life in the States (there are some definite financial pros however). You'll sometimes hear someone throw around the phrase "At least it's not Iraq" as a reminder that although it's not the States it's not nearly as bad as others have it. Sure, our movie theatre is outdoors and so old you often can't understand a word of what's going on (which may be a plus because I'll never understand why those who select the movies we screen choose the movies they do -- I think two months of non-stop screenings The Spongebob Squarepants Movie was only done to torture us) and the NEX never seems to have the items everyone wants (and yet we still buy bad DVDs for $26 a pop because we're bored) and our $90 a month internet crawls along at dial-up speeds but there's one positive that always stands out for everyone: we're not being shot at.

Pleasing A Woman
Of course the majority of men do not know one iota about pleasing a woman emotionally, so they try to make up for this lack of intelligence by acting all stud like. I mean you see men belching in public as if this is so cool, when in actuality it’s just plain GROSS and nauseating (no wonder you can’t get laid you freak, you’re a Don Juan wanna be that is in fact only a Beavis and Butthead fart face idiot).

Increasing Traffic
If anyone is wondering how to increase the traffic at their blog, I suggest writing something in regards to European funny commercials. It is the #1 most popular search words in search engines to find my blog. At least daily someone is looking for something on that subject and is directed to my blog because one of my posts was in regards to funny commercials. So there you have it. Blog tip of the day.

Sometimes Bob Won't Do
On another occasion, they sent a Bob The Builder cookie making kit in place of the Simpsons one I'd ordered for a fanatical friend. I snapped at him that day, I think, handing him it back and telling him, not a jot uncertainly, that Bob The Builder was of no use to me at a time like that.

Comedy Central Going Downhill
Comedy Central why do you do this to me? the channel’s programing has gone down hill the past year. To say the channel’s programing has ever been quality entertainment is a bit of a overstatement in itself. The network has had my viewership over the years from shows like The daily show, chappelle show, south park, and the the syndication of the kids in the hall. But I believe that the network executives think just because of the success of chappelle show they think they can give a show to the next controversial comedian and it’ll be a hit.

Growth Of Animation
In comparison, though, Pixar's office space is at least 150,000 square feet, plus the 50,000 square foot screening theater...and they've been trying hard to expand well beyond that amount. Apparently, they're hoping to amass an army of nearly 2,000 members. I wonder if the current movie market will be able to support so many under one roof?
