Funny Memory Stick
I just got a 512 megabyte memory stick from PNY technologies. That thing is awesome! I put all of my animations on it, which has taken up about 3/5 of its’ memory.

Good Old Days
But we had the cool cartoons then - Bugs Bunny was and still is the best. I hated all the Popeye cartoons and those other weird ones like Yogi Bear and the Moose guy. But, there wasn't much selection and I was usually too lazy to get up and change the channel, so I would watch it.

Vote For Your Favorite Comic
The Weblog Awards competition is heating up in the “Best Humor Comics” catagory and the General needs your vote. I know some of you are probably French and will not choose to participate but you should know one thing… While the General had enjoyed a comfortable lead in the polls, the Dilbert Blog (yes, the cartoon guy in the paper) has been gaining and this is unacceptable. While cartoons with funny dogs, pointy haired men and sour cats can be amusing, they are not the “The Official Online Organ of the Glorious Christian Cultural Revolution”. For the Dilbert Blog to win this competition would add strenght to the subversive influences of the liberal media and further damage our society for decades to come.

Stop Whining About Outsourcing
The paranoia inspired by this domino theory of job migration causes American and West European programmers to worry about India, Indian programmers to worry about China, Chinese programmers to worry about the Czech Republic, and so on. Domino theorists must think all IT jobs will go to the Republic of Elbonia, the extremely poor, fourth-world, Eastern European country featured in the Dilbert comic strip.

Underpants Gnomes
The second season of South Park contained a hilarious take on startup business models. I reference the clip all the time but some people have no idea what I am talking about. So here is a clip of the underpants gnomes.

Best Animation: Spirited Away. Disney may have Pixar’s technology but when it comes to animations, the Japanese does them best!

Caffeine & The Dilbert Blog
On Sunday, Scott Adams wrote this post about quitting caffeine, and mighty funny it was too; in fact it may be one of Adams’ most amusing posts of late. Today however it disappeared, with SA’s explanation for it’s removal consisting of “I deleted it. Don’t ask why.”

Why Can't I Do That?
So, I've been reading the Dilbert blog off and on. One of the things I noticed is that Scott Adams, the creator of Dilbert, is really just another guy. He's nobody 'special' in the sense that he's overly creative or smart or whatever. He has a specific skill (writes funny comic strip) that he has exploited. The output from this skill is now highly in demand he is therefore able to make money applying said skill. I often ask myself, "Why can't I be like Scott Adams" or anyone else successful for that matter?

Save The Comics Industry
The comic book industry has been hurting for a lot of years. This is no surprise to anyone who has remotely followed comics at all over the last 10 years. Comic book shops continue to close. I think the closest one to me is now over 100 miles away.

Private SNAFU
The Private SNAFU cartoons are sexy, jingoistic, and sometimes racist, but they’re also amazing examples of looney tooncraft and deserve to be seen despite their shortcomings. In other words, while these toons are probably not appropriate for impressionable youngsters or touchy adults, they’re a really interesting history lesson for grown-ups.

UN PC Police To The Rescue
Following up on Randall’s post regarding cartoons of Muhammed in a Danish newspaper and the sadly predictable violent backlash against it, it seems that the UN “experts on racism” has grabbed the opportunity to condemn the freedom of speech.

Danger Doom
The "Danger Doom" CD hit stores a little while ago, and I have to say that it's damn good. If it sounds familiar to you but you don't know what it is, that's probably because you've seen it plugged on Cartoon Network's "Adult Swim" quite a bit. It's mostly a hip-hip CD, and I'm pretty picky with my hip-hop, but this is a good one. The CD was put together by Danger Mouse and DF Doom, and if you've heard D Mouse's beats before I know you liked them and you will like these too. It also features cameos by some of the Aqua Teen Hunger Force squad (Meatwad, Carl, etc.) that add a little comedy and make the album as a whole more lighthearted than what you may be used to from these guys.

Why We Don't Have Children
The 7 year old nephew asked 2 questions a minute during our attempt to watch The Incredibles. We tried to ignore him and when that didn’t work we bribed him with a dollar to “stop with the questions already!”. Needless to say I never had to relinquish the dollar.

Invasion Of The Double Entendres
I was still out collecting children when she got home from work and had to step over three large plants, two extra chairs and several boxes to get at her desk. Then when the kids arrived and demanded immediate access to a laptop to watch “Finding Nemo” (by the way – there’s a fab fish & chip shop just outside Selby called “Frying Nemo”) and sit on her chenille rug to eat double pepperoni pizza with mustard dips, she decided that enough was enough. The kids were going to bed at 5pm tonight.

Cartoon Culture
A while back I read this article over on Seward Street about watching more animation –sort of immersing yourself in Cartoon Culture if you will. Now, the truth is, you don’t have to twist my arm to watch more cartoons but here lately I’ve been making a conscious effort. Some of the feature stuff I’ve been watching you can see reviewed below but I’ve also been watching as much stuff on Cartoon Network and Boomerang as I can make time for. On some level, I’ve enjoyed every frame of what I’ve seen recently. For instance, I watched an old Laserdisc of Tex Avery cartoons and thought some of them were brilliantly funny. The thing that’s made the biggest impression on me recently however was an old episode of “Toonheads” on Boomerang. The show was titled “The Dreams of Bob Clampett” and it was nothing but old Clampett Warner cartoons featuring dream sequences. This of course included gems like “The Big Snooze” and “Duck Twacy”. Not only are these shorts very, very funny they also have a loose rubbery style that grabs the eye and holds it. I was just grinning from ear-to-ear during the whole show.

Review: Chicken Little
in short, DO NOT, i repeat, DO NOT watch this movie on a weekend, it’ll make u feel like banging your head on the wall, yanking out the cinema seats or just wishing you took a couple of dormicum tabs to just fugue out a bit. it’s only 1 hr 15min long. it’s not as ‘emotion-provoking’ and musically-inclined as shrek, it’s not as adorable as finding nemo, and it’s not as funny as madagascar!

Open Source Cartoons
Dilbert cartoonist Scott Adams had an odd request for the readers of his blog today: He asked them to give him a line of text for one of his upcoming cartoons. Now collaborative online writing has been around for quite some time, but I think this is the first time a popular cartoonist offered his readership to work on his dialogues. Actually Scott chose one of the comments just an hour later. Had I noticed this early enough I would have contributed for sure. Being co author of a Dilbert cartoon would have been a high honor, just second to being featured in User Friendly.
