Rockstars Of Comedy

cartoons the laugh factory
If you need a laugh, try The Laugh Factory in Hollywood.

On Friday night, Mike and I went down to Hollywood to see the DVD taping of the Rockstars of Comedy. The Rockstars are a collection of six standup comics. One of them, Stevie D., hosts a series of Thursday shows at The Laugh Factory in Hollywood every now and again. He is also the MC for each show of this tour. The other five comics perform full-length sets (about twenty minutes or so).

The Simpsons are such a mainstream staple of our lives these days, that i have even managed to squeeze Simpsons quotes into academic essays. Check it out here

Too Self Concious

cartoons south park
Is South Park over the hill?

I literally have been running myself ragged, and this evening I finally reached the "I can’t do no more" stage. After dinner (reheated lasagne — Stephanie’s vegetarian version, quite delish), I thought about doing more work, maybe pack away some stuff…but my bod said, "Uh uh, no way." So I watched an episode of South Park (my guilty pleasure…although I’m not finding the show all that enjoyable anymore… They have some funny moments, but it seems to be becoming too self-conscious and deliberately provoking).

Dilbert Gets Off-Point

cartoons dilbert blog banner
Is the Dilbert blog straying off course?

I’ve been reading Adams’ Dilbert Blog for a while now, and it’s usually quite entertaining. I have, however, ignored his jags of late on Intelligent Design, as I don’t find it to be terribly productive to try and get info on that topic from a forum like the Dilbert Blog.

How Not To Write A Mission Statement

cartoons dilbert mission statement
A funny Dilbert business tool.

Ok, you won’t be surprised if I put the “Dilbert Mission Statement Generator” on the “do not do this” list. However, you might be surprised that it actually does an ok job at it. I don’t suggest it, but here’s a taste.

I Rode The Hasselhoff

cartoons spongebob hasselhoff
Did SpongeBob really say that?

If you haven’t seen the SpongeBob SquarePants movie, you must. One word: 13-foot-David-Hasselhoff-with-yak-hair-cutting-through-the-ocean-like-a-speedboat. And SpongeBob’s line: “I RODE the Hasselhoff!”

Pixar's Cars

cartoons pixar cars scene
The new Cars from Pixar is getting a lot of attention.

When I saw the teaser trailer for Pixar’s Cars I was surprised. I didn’t think it looked all that great, which wasn’t expected - come on, it’s Pixar! I just saw[1] the new trailer, however, and Cars is now definitely on my to-see list. I love the eyes of the race-track audience, and the tow-truck’s animation in the final scene is fantastic! There’s something else I wanted to point out, but come back here after you’ve watched the trailer…
