Damien Hirst Exhibition
Bansky’s two works are pretty famous and both works at the show combined well-known icons. The first was Nick Uht’s Kim hand in hand with Ronald McDonald and Mickey Mouse. In a sense, war has become merely news and entertainment for the middle classes as highlighted in the Financial Times. The other was a Horseman of the Apocalypse dressed as a riot policeman a la Seattle 1999 and with the Smiley as his face. Be happy! That’s an order!

Disney World
M-I-C-K-E-Y ….M-O-U-S-E …. Remember that tune? The Mickey Mouse club? Yeah. I was in Vegas few years back and in France (which was just back door to me…same as me driving across the Causeway) and I’ve always enjoyed the day trip to Paris, en-route : Disneyland Paris.

Mickey Mouse Redrawn
Byrne’s comparison to Mickey Mouse is flawed, I think. He grants that the design has changed over the years, in oder to continue to appeal to a contemporary audience, but asserts that whatever crop of artists are avaiable at any time are religiously “on model”. What he fails to take into account is the animation medium itself(to say that animators are on model from frame to frame is akin to saying Ben Affleck looks like Ben Affleck from frame to frame) as well as the onslaught of merchandise which employs so much variety, much of it never seen in film or comics. The fact is, the look of Mickey Mouse is malleable, and open to interpretation, and the company encourages and exploits it.

Deconstructing Cartoon Favorites
If you troll through the little online gallery you’ll see favorites such as Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny, the Coyote and Roadrunner. There are also a number of images for documentation purposes. It took a number of people required to make the three dimensional versions of the skeletons. And they’re not exactly small, either.

Healthy Breakfasts
I mean, stop for a minute and think of your favourite breakfast foods. There’s probably some eggs, bacon, of course, pancakes, waffles, toast… Now who wants to get up and cook that for their family each and every morning? My Grandmother used to, but only because she had to, and just recently she admitted to me that she, the woman who inspired my love of food, hates cooking with every fibre of her being – mostly because of having to get up every single day for 50 years to cook breakfast! If my Grandmother, with her pancakes shaped like Mickey Mouse isn’t up to cooking breakfast, then what hope is there for the rest of us?

Just Another Mickey Mouse Product
The day wasn’t a complete loss. I still spent half the day on the phone with some good friends out of state who wished me well. Got a cute card, homemade chocolate chip cookies and a very, very nice waffle iron from my friend in Austin — it makes mini Mickey Mouse shaped waffles. Completely made my week!!! My parents bought me a super nice Zojirushi rice cooker. I must be getting old if I’m getting excited about kitchen appliances…

America's HeyDay for Hood Ornaments
For the Average Joe, many novelty and humorous hood ornaments then abounded. These were manufactured by various supply companies and were purchased easily because of their affordability. Among these, figures of Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse, whimsical traffic cops with spinning arms and even busts of Uncle Sam were just a few of these novelty ornaments seen daily. The Wiggler Company in Buffalo, New York introduced the 'Spinning Rotoscope', a whirling ornament featuring four bright red cup shaped discs intended to twirl in turbulent airstream.
